The biggest practical tradeoff is city access versus built-in scale: Fordham gives you day-to-day proximity to New York internships during the school year, while Boston University offers a larger overall employer ecosystem, a very broad alumni base, and strong institutional recruiting in Boston and beyond. If your priority is being able to get into Manhattan regularly for part-time internships, Fordham has a real location advantage, especially from Lincoln Center. If your priority is a bigger university career machine with wide employer reach across many fields, BU tends to have more depth.

For internships specifically, Fordham benefits from being in New York, where finance, media, fashion, publishing, nonprofit, and corporate internships are unusually accessible during the semester. That matters because commuting time and employer familiarity with local colleges often make it easier to piece together in-semester experience. Fordham students can absolutely benefit from that, especially if they are proactive early.

On career support, BU usually feels more expansive simply because it is a much larger institution with more specialized resources across schools and majors. Fordham’s support can feel more personal, but it may rely a bit more on students taking initiative and using New York strategically. For business, communications, and NYC-facing industries, Fordham can punch above its size because of location. For STEM, health-related fields, and a broader national employer network, BU often has the edge.

If the question is which school makes internships easier overall, I’d lean BU for breadth of opportunity and career infrastructure, but Fordham is very compelling if you want to intern in New York during the academic year and can take advantage of that consistently. The more your goals are tied to Manhattan-based industries, the closer this comparison gets.
