Which is better for finance careers: Vassar or UPenn?

For finance specifically, UPenn tends to offer the stronger and more direct path. Penn has Wharton, one of the most established undergraduate business schools in the country, and its location in Philadelphia plus its recruiting pipeline into New York finance gives students unusually strong access to internships, alumni, and on-campus recruiting.

UPenn fits the student who already knows they want a highly pre-professional environment and is excited by a fast-paced, career-oriented campus culture. At Penn, finance is not a niche interest. There are many students pursuing it, many clubs built around it, and a deep alumni network in banking and investing.

Vassar makes more sense for a student who wants a classic liberal arts college experience and is interested in finance but not fully committed to it yet. Vassar can absolutely send graduates into finance, especially students who major in economics, math, or related fields and build strong internships. But the path is less built-in. You would likely need to be more self-directed about networking, recruiting, and finding finance-specific opportunities.

Vassar may appeal more if you want small classes, close faculty relationships, strong writing and analytical training, and room to explore outside business. That can be excellent preparation for many careers, including finance.

So if the question is specifically about maximizing access to finance careers, Penn has the clearer edge. Vassar is more compelling for someone who values the liberal arts environment enough that they are willing to create their own route into finance rather than step into one that is already very well established.
