For a student who wants traditional study abroad choices like Europe, Latin America, Asia, or Africa with lots of academic formats, Davis usually offers more variety.

At NYU Shanghai, the international experience is less about stepping out of a U.S. campus for one term and more about being in a cross-border academic environment from day one. Students can study away at other NYU global sites, and that system is one of the clearest, most integrated mobility options among universities with multiple campuses abroad. If you want repeated international movement within one university network, NYU Shanghai is especially strong.

For keeping graduation uncomplicated, UC Davis may have the edge for many majors because the UC study abroad infrastructure is extensive and familiar to academic departments. NYU Shanghai can also work smoothly, but the experience is more tied to how your curriculum fits across NYU’s global campuses rather than a broad independent study abroad marketplace.

So for pure study abroad access and range, I would lean UC Davis. For a student who wants an already global campus plus strong internal mobility across NYU locations, NYU Shanghai has a distinctive advantage, but it is a different kind of international opportunity than traditional study abroad.
