Being in a place so tied to early American history creates unusual access to museums, archives, historic sites, and public history opportunities that can actually shape coursework and internships.

UC Davis absolutely has serious strengths. You would be at a large, academically respected university with a wide range of faculty interests, strong library access, and more room to explore adjacent fields like political science, anthropology, classics, or area studies.
