Which is better for business: Duke or Yale?

I’m trying to decide between Duke and Yale and keep seeing both mentioned as strong schools, but I’m mostly interested in business. I know Yale doesn’t have an undergraduate business major in the same way some schools do, and Duke has Fuqua connections, so I’m wondering how they compare for someone who wants a career in business after college.

I’m mainly looking at which school would be the better overall choice for business opportunities and recruiting.

Duke has the clearer edge for undergraduate business opportunities and recruiting. Yale is still excellent for business careers, especially because of its brand and alumni network, but it is less intentionally built around undergraduate pre-business pathways.

At Duke, the campus culture around consulting, banking, entrepreneurship, and product roles is simply more developed at the undergraduate level. Students interested in business tend to find more peers on the same track, more structured clubs tied to recruiting, and more frequent interaction with MBA-adjacent resources. That matters because recruiting is often about access, repetition, and being surrounded by people preparing for the same interviews.

Fuqua is another real differentiator. Even though Duke undergrads are not business majors in the traditional sense, being at a university with a highly visible business school helps create networking events, speaker series, entrepreneurship resources, and a stronger business identity on campus.

Yale places very well into top business careers too, especially consulting and finance, and its alumni network can open major doors. But for an undergraduate who already knows they want business, Yale often requires a bit more self-direction because there is no comparable undergrad business ecosystem. The path is absolutely there, just less concentrated.

For pure business opportunity and recruiting structure as an undergraduate, Duke is the more practical pick.
