How does Wake Forest compare to UVA in overall value for undergrads?

The biggest practical tradeoff is cost versus scale: UVA usually offers much stronger value financially, especially for Virginia residents, while Wake Forest offers a smaller, more private-school undergraduate experience that some students do find worth the higher price. UVA has the reach and resources of a major public flagship, including a very broad set of majors, large alumni networks, and strong recruiting in areas like business, policy, consulting, and tech. Wake tends to feel more intimate day to day, with smaller classes earlier on, closer faculty access, and a more contained campus culture.

In pure return-on-price terms, UVA is hard to beat if your costs there are meaningfully lower. For in-state students especially, the gap can be substantial, and UVA still delivers a nationally respected degree, excellent internship access, and a very active alumni base. Even for out-of-state students, UVA can still come out ahead on value if the price difference versus Wake is large.

If the prices are close after aid, the decision becomes much more personal, and Wake can absolutely justify itself for someone who will thrive in that environment.
