Which is bigger: UC Davis or UCSB campus size?

UC Davis has the larger campus by a wide margin. Its main campus is several thousand acres and is one of the largest in the UC system, while UC Santa Barbara’s main campus is much smaller and more compact, sitting on a coastal peninsula by Isla Vista and the ocean.

That size difference really affects how each school feels day to day. UC Davis is known for being spread out, with lots of open land, bike paths, agricultural facilities, and room between different parts of campus. Getting around there often means relying heavily on a bike because the campus footprint is so extensive.

UCSB feels much tighter physically. Even though it is still a substantial university, its academic and residential areas are packed into a more contained space, so it is often easier to get from one end to another on foot or by bike. The beachside setting also makes the campus feel bounded in a way Davis does not.
