Boston College or Fordham better for city life?

The biggest practical difference is that Fordham gives you a much more city-embedded daily experience, while Boston College feels more like a traditional campus that happens to have a major city nearby. Fordham’s Lincoln Center campus is in Manhattan, and even Rose Hill in the Bronx is plugged into New York through the subway and city streets. Boston College has access to Boston, but Chestnut Hill feels quieter and more separate, so getting “city life” often takes more intention.

If what you want is easy, everyday urban energy, Fordham is the stronger match. At Lincoln Center, the city is basically your campus, with restaurants, events, internships, and public transit right outside. Rose Hill is more residential and enclosed than Lincoln Center, but it still feels more urban than Boston College, and students regularly use the train to get around the city.

Boston College does have meaningful access to Boston, especially neighborhoods like Cleveland Circle, Brighton, Brookline, and downtown via the T. But the feel on campus is much more self-contained. That can be a plus if you want school spirit, green space, and a classic campus atmosphere, but it does not create the same constant off-campus stimulation that Fordham offers.

For internships and sheer volume of things to do, Fordham also has the edge because New York is woven directly into student life. Boston is still an excellent college city, but BC students usually have more of a campus-first, city-second experience. If city life is one of your biggest priorities, Fordham is probably the better choice, especially Lincoln Center.
