Is Georgia Tech worth the cost compared with Northwestern for engineering or computer science?

One concrete difference is academic concentration. At Georgia Tech, engineering and computing are central to the institution, which means more course offerings, more classmates headed into the same industries, and a campus culture heavily built around technical work, internships, and applied projects. For a student who already knows they want engineering or CS, that focus often translates into more direct value than paying extra for Northwestern’s broader overall university brand.

Another difference is employer perception in these majors. In engineering and CS, Georgia Tech is a name recruiters know extremely well, and it places students into major tech, engineering, and quantitative roles at a very high level. Northwestern is also respected, but in these specific fields it usually does not create such a large prestige advantage that it justifies a much bigger bill.
