Is Georgetown harder to get into than Wake Forest for college admissions?

I’m trying to compare colleges and keep seeing Georgetown and Wake Forest mentioned together as selective private schools. I know both are competitive, but I’m trying to understand which one is generally considered harder to get into overall.

I’m not asking about this year’s numbers, just the usual reputation and selectivity between the two schools.

Yes. Georgetown is generally considered harder to get into than Wake Forest overall, both by reputation and by the level of national applicant competition it draws. Georgetown tends to attract a very large pool of highly credentialed applicants, especially for programs tied to politics, international relations, business, and pre-law interests. It is usually viewed as one of the more selective private universities in the country, while Wake Forest is also selective but not typically placed in quite the same tier of admissions difficulty.

Georgetown is the place applicants often target when they want a school with a strong national and international profile, especially in government, foreign service, policy, and finance. Its Washington, D.C. location adds to that demand, and many students applying there are also aiming for other highly selective research universities. That combination usually makes the bar feel steeper.

Wake Forest appeals strongly to students who want a smaller private university experience with serious academics, close faculty interaction, and a more traditional residential campus environment. It is absolutely competitive, and no one should treat it as easy, but in the usual college admissions pecking order, it is not as difficult to enter as Georgetown.

So if your question is simply which school is tougher to get into in the broad, long-term sense, the answer is Georgetown.
