Is Stanford or Brown considered more fun for undergraduates?

The campus is huge, most students are deeply involved in clubs, events, dorm traditions, and weekend gatherings, and the California setting makes casual socializing easy almost year-round. It can feel lively in a very residential way, with a lot of student life centered on campus itself.

Brown’s version of fun is a little different. It has a reputation for being open, quirky, and student-driven, and the Open Curriculum contributes to a less rigid atmosphere. Social life can feel less polished and less structured than Stanford’s, but also more eclectic. You may find more overlap between artsy, intellectual, activist, and offbeat scenes, and Providence gives students somewhere to go that feels integrated with everyday life rather than separate from it.

If you mean high-energy, sunny, active, and socially busy, Stanford probably has the edge. If you mean creative, flexible, and a little more indie in personality, Brown may be the more enjoyable place to live. On pure “most undergrads would call this fun” terms, Stanford is probably more likely to match that description, but Brown often wins for students who care more about vibe and freedom than nonstop campus energy.
