At Williams, students interested in finance tend to benefit from a very active alumni network, strong support for internships, and a campus ecosystem where upperclassmen and alumni often help underclassmen understand timelines, technical prep, and networking. Employers that know liberal arts colleges well tend to know Williams especially well. That matters in finance because recruiting is often relationship-driven, and a school with more alumni already in banks, investment firms, and related roles can make the process more accessible.

Colgate is still a credible option, especially if you do well academically and are proactive early. It has loyal alumni and can place students into finance, particularly in New York, but it is less of an automatic target in the eyes of many firms. In practice, that often means fewer built-in touchpoints and more dependence on your own outreach, club involvement, and off-campus networking.

If finance is your clear priority, Williams is the stronger choice. It tends to offer the better combination of alumni access, employer recognition, and established recruiting pathways, which makes the road into internships and full-time roles more straightforward.
