For career value, the answer is also close, but the type of advantage differs. UT Austin has a huge alumni base, strong recruiting, and excellent value for in-state students in particular, which matters a lot when people think about return on investment. If someone asked me which school is more prestigious overall, I would say there is no universal winner, but USC is more often perceived as the more traditionally elite brand, while UT Austin is often respected more as a top flagship with outstanding academic and career outcomes. If the question is pure reputation divorced from cost, USC may get a slight edge in perceived private-school prestige. If the question is real-world academic credibility and value, UT Austin is at least its equal and often seen more favorably.
