USC vs Villanova for business: which is the better choice?
I’m trying to decide between USC and Villanova for undergrad business, and I want to make the choice based on the school’s overall strength for business. I’m interested in things like reputation, recruiting, internship opportunities, and how well the program sets students up for careers after college.
I know both schools are well regarded, but I’m not sure which one is generally considered the stronger option for a business major.

The biggest practical tradeoff is scale and reach versus a smaller, more regional business environment. USC Marshall has broader national and international visibility, a much larger alumni network, and direct access to Los Angeles internships across finance, consulting, entertainment, real estate, and tech-adjacent business roles. Villanova’s business school is well respected and can place very well, especially in the Northeast, but its recruiting footprint is typically narrower than USC’s.
Villanova is still a serious option, especially if you want a tighter campus community and expect to build your career in Philadelphia, New York, or nearby East Coast markets. Its business school has a solid reputation, and some students prefer the more contained campus culture and smaller-school feel. But when people talk about which undergraduate business program carries more weight across regions and industries, USC is usually the name that travels farther.
Career setup is where USC tends to separate itself most clearly. The Trojan alumni network is famously active, and for business students that can translate into more touchpoints for mentorship, internships, and first-job access. Villanova can absolutely open doors, but USC usually offers the stronger platform if your goal is maximum optionality across industries and cities.
So on pure business strength, reputation, and career reach, I would pick USC over Villanova.
