Which is better for finance: UNC or Fordham?

I’m trying to decide between UNC and Fordham and finance is the main field I want to study. Both seem like they could lead to good business careers, but I’m not sure which one has the stronger reputation or recruiting for finance.

I’m looking at this mainly from the perspective of internships and getting a first job after college.

UNC has the edge for finance overall, especially if you want the stronger undergraduate business brand and broader on-campus recruiting, while Fordham becomes very compelling if your main priority is being in New York during the school year. UNC’s Kenan-Flagler undergraduate business program is one of the school’s biggest strengths, and it carries a very strong reputation with employers.

One big differentiator is the business school itself. At UNC, finance recruiting benefits from the visibility of Kenan-Flagler, a large alumni network, and a campus culture where business recruiting is highly organized.

The clearest advantage Fordham brings is location. Being in New York, especially through the Gabelli School of Business, can make semester internships, networking events, and informational interviews much easier to access. If you are proactive and already know you want to spend a lot of time building connections in NYC finance, Fordham gives you daily proximity that UNC cannot match.

A third difference is national reach versus city-specific opportunity. UNC tends to open more doors across regions and industries, with especially strong name recognition in the South. Fordham is well respected, but its finance advantages are more tightly tied to New York access and to students who really take initiative there.
