Is University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or Notre Dame better for accounting?

The Mendoza College of Business is very well regarded, and Notre Dame’s alumni network is famously strong and loyal. For someone who values close-knit campus culture, strong mentorship, and the broader Notre Dame brand across business fields, it can be a very compelling option even if accounting is not the one area where people most often place it ahead of UIUC.

In recruiting terms, both schools can open doors, but UIUC usually has the edge in accounting-specific depth, while Notre Dame brings a powerful overall brand and network that can travel well across finance, consulting, and business leadership roles too. If your question is strictly which school is more recognized for accounting itself, UIUC is the clearer answer. If you want accounting plus a smaller private-school experience and the Notre Dame network, Notre Dame remains a very strong choice.
