UC Davis and UCLA do feel quite different day to day, and the biggest contrast is that Davis tends to feel calmer, more community-centered, and more self-contained, while UCLA feels faster, denser, and more plugged into the energy of Los Angeles. At Davis, the college-town setting shapes a lot of student life: biking is part of the routine, campus and town blend together, and it is easier to run into the same people regularly. At UCLA, students are in Westwood with immediate access to a major city, so campus life is active but also more spread across internships, restaurants, events, and off-campus opportunities.

Socially, Davis often comes across as friendlier in a low-key way.
