The University of Arizona is the more outwardly social, high-energy campus, while the University of San Diego tends to feel smaller, calmer, and more low-key day to day. Arizona has a classic large public university atmosphere with big school spirit, major sports presence, and a campus culture where there is usually something happening. USD is more residential and intimate, with social life shaped more by friend groups, clubs, and the surrounding city than by huge campus-wide energy.

Meeting people is typically easier at Arizona simply because of the scale and visibility of student life. There are more students, more events, and a stronger sense of everyone funneling into the same traditions, especially around athletics and campus activities. At USD, people still make friends, but the social scene can feel more segmented, and some students say it takes more intentional effort to branch beyond your residence hall, classes, or existing circles.
