Its School of Business is very well known, and accounting is one of the areas where that reputation tends to translate into strong internship pipelines and Big Four visibility. If your top priority is being surrounded by a polished business-school recruiting environment from early on, Villanova is the more straightforward choice.

Villanova is a particularly good fit for the student who wants a traditional undergraduate business experience with strong on-campus employer access and a network that is active in finance, accounting, and consulting. Being close to Philadelphia also helps with internship access during the school year, and the alumni base is notably engaged. For someone aiming at public accounting, especially larger firms, Villanova tends to make that path feel more built-in.

Binghamton makes more sense for the student who wants a strong, respected public university option and is paying significantly less, especially in-state. Its School of Management is well regarded, and you can absolutely get to internships, public accounting, and the CPA track from there. The question with Binghamton is less whether the path exists and more whether you are comfortable being a bit more proactive with networking and recruiting compared with a place like Villanova.

For CPA preparation, the bigger practical issue is not just prestige but how you will reach the 150-credit requirement. At either school, many students do that through a combined or follow-up master’s route, extra undergraduate credits, or summer coursework. So cost matters a lot, because accounting salaries are solid but not so high that taking on much more debt automatically makes sense.
