Is Middlebury or Lehigh better for business students?

Lehigh is the better choice for a student who already knows they want business. It has a dedicated business school, a full undergraduate business curriculum, and a much more direct pipeline into internships, recruiting, and finance or consulting-oriented career paths. Middlebury is an excellent college, but it does not offer an undergraduate business major, so the path is less direct and more pieced together through economics and related fields.

The biggest difference is academic structure. Lehigh’s College of Business gives undergraduates access to majors like finance, accounting, marketing, business analytics, management, and supply chain, which means business students can build technical depth early. At Middlebury, students interested in business usually study economics and then supplement that with internships, clubs, and quantitative coursework, which can work well but is not the same as having a formal business program.

Career preparation also leans clearly toward Lehigh. Because business is a central part of the university, employer engagement, alumni networking, student organizations, and internship preparation are more intentionally built around business students. That matters if you want recruiting support for fields like investment banking, consulting, corporate finance, accounting, or sales.

Middlebury stands out more for its liberal arts environment, writing-focused academics, and especially its language and international strengths. That can be a real advantage for students interested in global business, policy, or eventually business school, but it is less pre-professional at the undergraduate level.
