Is Indiana University worth it compared with Ohio State for college?

For pure degree respect, both are legitimate, well-known Big Ten public universities, and neither is a weak choice. In many fields, employers will view them as peer schools unless you are talking about a standout college within the university, where Indiana can pull ahead in areas like business and music, and Ohio State can have the edge in engineering, science, and some pre-professional pathways.

On student experience, Bloomington is often seen as more centered around the undergraduate campus itself, which matters if you want a more contained college-town environment. Ohio State has the energy and opportunities of Columbus, but it can feel bigger, busier, and less intimate. That is not automatically worse, just a different day-to-day experience.

For value, the answer often comes down to your major and your net price, not the overall brand name. If Indiana admitted you to Kelley or another especially strong program and the cost is close to Ohio State, that can absolutely be worth it.
