Is Duke or Emory better for business?
I’m trying to narrow down my college list and both Duke and Emory keep coming up as strong options. I’m interested in studying business or something close to it, and I’m trying to understand which school is generally considered the better choice for that path.
I’m mostly comparing them based on overall business reputation and opportunities for undergrads.

For undergraduate business, Emory is usually the stronger direct choice because it has the Goizueta Business School, a well-established undergrad business program with majors like finance, marketing, strategy, and information systems. Duke does not have an undergraduate business major; most students interested in business study economics, public policy, statistics, or another related field and then pursue internships, finance recruiting, or a graduate business degree later. So if you want a formal business curriculum as an undergrad, Emory has the clearer advantage.
In terms of reputation, both schools are highly respected, but they are respected in slightly different ways. Duke has enormous overall prestige and very strong outcomes in consulting, finance, and entrepreneurship, but that comes more through economics and Duke’s broader network than through a business major.
For opportunities, both schools place students well into internships and jobs. Emory benefits from its connection to Atlanta’s business scene and a business school structure that gives undergrads direct access to recruiting and business coursework. Duke offers exceptional alumni reach, strong recruiting pipelines, and lots of extracurricular business clubs, but students have to build the business path more indirectly.
If the question is which is better for studying business as an undergraduate, Emory is the better fit. If the question is which school has broader overall prestige and can still open doors to business careers, Duke is extremely strong, just less business-specific at the undergraduate level.
