Dartmouth vs Stanford for tech careers: which has better recruiting and alumni network?

For tech careers specifically, Stanford has the clearer advantage. Its location in the Bay Area, extremely deep ties to major tech companies and startups, and sheer concentration of alumni in software, product, AI, and venture-backed firms make recruiting easier and more frequent there than at Dartmouth.

That matters because opportunities often come through classmates, student organizations, professors, and alumni as much as formal recruiting.

Dartmouth absolutely has a strong alumni network, and one of its real strengths is that alumni are often unusually responsive and loyal. For a student who is proactive, that can translate into warm introductions and mentorship. Dartmouth also places students into tech, especially through computer science, engineering, and alumni-driven outreach, but the volume of tech recruiting and density of connections are not on Stanford’s level.

If your main criterion is easiest access to internships, first jobs, and tech connections, Stanford is the better bet.

The main case for Dartmouth would be if you strongly prefer its smaller undergraduate focus, tighter-knit campus culture, or broader liberal arts environment and are confident you’ll actively build your own tech path. But if the question is purely recruiting strength and alumni network for tech, Stanford is stronger in both reach and day-to-day opportunity.
