If you want maximum clinical, research, and shadowing options, Michigan usually has the edge. Being tied to a major medical school and hospital system matters because it creates more ways to get involved in labs, public health, patient-facing volunteering, and medically related student organizations. Michigan also has very strong biology, chemistry, biochemistry, neuroscience, and public health pathways, which can be useful if you want flexibility in how you build your pre-med profile.

If you want closer advising and a campus culture that can feel less overwhelming, Notre Dame may be the better fit.
