How accessible are University of Chicago professors to undergraduates?
I’m looking at UChicago and keep hearing that the academics are intense. I’m curious how easy it actually is for undergrads to talk with professors outside class, go to office hours, or get involved in research.
I’m trying to understand whether faculty interaction is a realistic part of the undergrad experience there or something mostly reserved for grad students.

The intensity of academics at UChicago is real, but that often goes along with a culture where talking to professors is expected. It is not a place where faculty interaction is reserved mostly for graduate students, especially in the humanities and social sciences, where undergrads often work closely with professors in small classes and on thesis-style projects.
