Is UConn a good school for business majors?

I’m looking at UConn for business and trying to figure out how strong it is overall for that major. I care about things like reputation, internship opportunities, and whether the business program is well respected by employers.

I’m a junior starting to narrow down my list, so I want to know if UConn is considered a solid choice for someone who wants to study business and have good career options after college.

Yes, UConn is a solid choice for business majors, especially if you want a well-known public university with strong recruiting in the Northeast. Its School of Business is established and broadly respected, and UConn has good placement into finance, accounting, consulting, marketing, and operations roles. The school’s location and alumni network help with internships and jobs, particularly in Connecticut, New York, and Boston.

UConn’s business program is AACSB-accredited, which is the standard top business school accreditation employers recognize. The School of Business offers majors like finance, accounting, management, marketing, MIS, and others, so it gives you both brand name and flexibility. For accounting in particular, UConn has a strong reputation, and finance students also benefit from proximity to major employers in the region.

Internship access is one of UConn’s stronger points. Students can reach Hartford area insurance, finance, and corporate employers, and there are also pathways into NYC and Boston internships through alumni and recruiting connections. Larger public companies, banks, insurance firms, and consulting-related employers do recruit from UConn, so it is not a school where you would be isolated from career opportunities.

In terms of employer respect, UConn is generally seen as a reliable, reputable school rather than an elite target-school option. That means outcomes can be very good, but you usually need to be proactive with clubs, networking, leadership, and internships. If you do that, UConn can absolutely lead to strong career options, especially in the Northeast.
