How do I log in to the Stony Brook application portal and find my application status?
I submitted my application to Stony Brook and got a message that I should check the portal for updates. I’m not totally sure how to create or access the login, and I want to make sure I’m looking in the right place.
I just want to understand where the portal is and where application status or missing materials are usually shown.

To check your Stony Brook application status, use Stony Brook’s applicant portal, often called the SOLAR access or applicant status page linked through Undergraduate Admissions. After you submit your application, Stony Brook usually emails you portal login instructions, including how to activate your account or sign in using the email tied to your application. Your status page is typically where you’ll see whether your application is complete, any missing items like transcripts or test scores, and later your admission decision.
Start by going to Stony Brook Undergraduate Admissions and looking for the applicant portal or application status link. If you already received a Stony Brook ID number or account setup email, use that information to activate your login. If you have not set up access yet, check the email account you used on the Common App or SUNY application, including spam and promotions folders, because that is where Stony Brook normally sends portal instructions.
Once you are in, look for sections labeled application status, checklist, or required materials. That is usually where missing documents appear, along with notes about whether items have been received and processed.
If you cannot log in, the most common issues are using a different email address than the one on your application, not having activated the account yet, or trying to log in before Stony Brook has finished creating your record. In practice, the right place is the official Stony Brook applicant portal linked from Undergraduate Admissions, not the general student dashboard unless your account has already been activated for that purpose.
