How do I apply to CSU Fullerton as a commuter student?

I’m a high school senior looking at CSU Fullerton, and I’ll be commuting from home if I go there. I’ve only seen general application info so far, and I’m not sure if there is a separate commuter student application or if it’s just part of the regular admissions process.

You apply to Cal State Fullerton through the regular CSU undergraduate application. There is not a separate application for commuter students, because commuting from home is a housing and enrollment choice, not a different admissions category.

After you are admitted and decide to enroll, you simply choose not to apply for campus housing if you plan to live at home. CSUF is very used to serving commuters, and commuting does not hurt your admission chances or require extra paperwork as part of the main application. The admissions review is based on the standard factors CSU campuses use, such as your coursework, grades, and eligibility for your major.

What matters most is applying correctly as a freshman applicant, sending any required transcripts or records, and watching your CSUF student portal after submission. If you are interested in financial aid, you should also complete the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application, since that process is separate from the admission application.

The only time you would fill out something additional is if you later wanted housing, orientation options, parking, or commuter-related campus services after admission. But for getting in, commuter students follow the same admissions process as everyone else.
