Is the University of Arizona business major good for students interested in finance or marketing?
I’m a high school junior trying to narrow down colleges, and the University of Arizona keeps coming up for business. I’m interested in either finance or marketing, so I’m trying to figure out whether the business program is actually strong in those areas.
I’m mostly looking for a general sense of how the major is viewed by students and employers, since I’m still comparing schools.

Yes. The University of Arizona’s business program is a solid option for students interested in either finance or marketing, especially if you want a well-established public university with strong recruiting connections in the Southwest. Its business school, the Eller College of Management, is widely respected, and both finance and marketing are among its better-known areas. Employers generally view Arizona as a credible, practical business school rather than an ultra-elite target school, which means outcomes are often strongest for students who actively use internships, networking, and campus resources.
For finance, Eller has a good reputation for preparing students for corporate finance, banking, wealth management, and related business roles. It is not typically considered a top national “feeder” for Wall Street in the same way a few highly selective schools are, but students do place into solid jobs, especially in Arizona, California, Texas, and nearby markets. The strength here is more about access to business coursework, student organizations, and employer recruiting than pure prestige.
For marketing, Arizona is also a good choice. Students tend to benefit from the school’s large alumni network, brand-name business school, and opportunities tied to sales, market research, digital marketing, and general business development. Marketing outcomes often depend heavily on internship experience, and a large university like Arizona can be helpful because there are usually many clubs, events, and employer touchpoints to build that experience.
If you are comparing schools, I would think of Arizona as strong and dependable for finance or marketing, especially if cost, campus fit, and access to internships matter to you.
