How strong is Williams College pre-law advising for undergraduates?

I’m a high school student looking at Williams College and trying to understand what support there is for students interested in law school. I know pre-law is not a major, but I want to know whether the advising and resources are actually helpful for planning coursework, internships, and the law school application process.

I’m mainly trying to figure out how strong the pre-law support is for students who want to go into law.

Williams has solid pre-law support for undergraduates, especially if you want individualized advising rather than a large formal pre-law program. The college has a dedicated pre-law advisor through the Career Center, and Williams is well known for strong faculty access, which helps with course planning, recommendation letters, and mentorship. Its small size also makes it easier to build close relationships with professors in fields like political science, history, philosophy, economics, and English, all of which can be good preparation for law school.

The advising is most useful in three areas: choosing a broad, writing-heavy academic path, finding legal or policy-related summer experiences, and navigating the law school application timeline. Williams does not require a specific pre-law curriculum, which is actually a plus for law school admissions, since law schools generally value strong grades, analytical reading, and persuasive writing more than any one major.

One of Williams’s strongest assets is its alumni network. For pre-law students, that can matter a lot because alumni often help with informational interviews, internship leads, and insight into legal careers.

Williams is a strong option for pre-law preparation if you want high-quality advising, close mentorship, strong academics, and career support for law school preparation.
