What should be on a UVA application checklist for seniors?

I’m a senior trying to stay organized while applying to UVA and I want to make sure I’m not forgetting anything important. I know there are usually several parts to a college application besides the main form.

I’m looking for the standard checklist items a high school senior should have ready before submitting a UVA application.

A solid UVA application checklist for seniors should include the Common Application or Coalition Application, the UVA-specific supplemental essays, your official high school transcript, a school report and counselor recommendation, one teacher recommendation, and either SAT/ACT scores if you want them considered or a decision to apply test-optional. UVA also requires the application fee or an approved fee waiver.

For UVA specifically, seniors should also make sure their senior-year courses are listed clearly, because UVA pays close attention to course rigor through 12th grade.

A practical checklist would be: basic personal information, activities and honors list, finalized personal statement, UVA supplements, transcript, counselor materials, teacher recommendation, test score plan, fee payment or waiver. You should also confirm that your parents or guardians have any information needed for financial aid forms.

For financial aid, have the FAFSA ready and, if requested or relevant for your situation, the CSS Profile or other supporting documents.

It is also smart to have an application portal checklist of your own after submission: confirm UVA received every document, monitor email for missing items, and send midyear grades when your school does.
