At WashU, holistic review means they do not admit by a single cutoff for GPA, rank, or test scores. In practice, the biggest pieces are usually your transcript and course rigor first, then the rest of the application helps explain how you learn, contribute, and fit the opportunities at WashU.

WashU specifically evaluates what was available at your high school, so a student is judged against their school context rather than against a universal checklist. That means AP, IB, honors, dual enrollment, grading scale, and school profile matter. If your school offers limited advanced coursework, they will take that into account.
