How I work
I tailor my advising process around helping students identify and articulate what makes them tick. Good writing has to start from a place of passion, and when students are excited about what they're writing about, everything gets easier from there. I give super detailed, precise, and action-focused suggestions and comments based on my years of experience in the field. I usually spend some time trying to understand the student's workflow and task-oriented habits so that we can get things done most efficiently. I encourage students to get a draft down as soon as possible so that we can work through various versions of the text until it's nuanced, polished, and ready to go.
