About
During my day job, I edit bestselling authors for a large NYC-based book publisher, and I'm excited to bring my keen editorial eye and passion for storytelling to the college application process. After graduating from Northwestern University in 2018, I jumped right into the college advising game at CollegeVine and was surprised by the nuance and thoughtfulness required to craft a well-rounded and personal application. I continued on through my move to NYC in 2019 and continued juggling college counseling alongside freelance projects before landing my current editorial position. I've since worked with established, bestselling authors alongside early career writers at the very beginning stages of the editorial process and am excited to return to my work in the admissions field with a new perspective and a wealth of experience.

How I work
When publishing a book, I not only think about the story being told within the pages but also about the whole package: the positioning, the copy, and the overall effect its going to have on a reader. I take the same approach with the college counseling process, helping students tell an honest and compelling story. While an impressive resume and stellar grades are always an asset to the application process, I've found that the most important approach is to present applicants as dynamic humans who are eager to bring their full selves to a university.

I like to start off my advising with a conversation focusing on a client's realistic goals for the future, as well as their pie-in-the-sky dreams. In order to craft a compelling narrative, I prefer going beyond the achievements and accolades to find the stories that clients are dying to tell. At the root of these stories are often seeds of the goals they want to achieve, and I aim to work with clients to uncover these truths.

One of the biggest mistakes I see in the admissions process is when students do not take advantage of every piece of the application in order to tell the best possible story in the space allotted. In order to avoid this pitfall, I make sure to review all of the essays together to make sure that each element is revealing a different aspect of a student's life and career that--put together--create a full-picture.

Outside of the development stage, I also work with students to fine-tune their writing on a line-level. This means removing clunky language and making the writing clear and straightforward, while still allowing for personal flair.

Overall, I feel my role as an advisor is to give students the tools to present the clearest, most authentic versions of themselves to admissions committees, so that they stick out from the pack.
